AMLSN ANAMBRA BRANCH HOLDS A SUCCESSFUL FUND RAISING/AWARD LUNCHEON



The Anambra branch of AMLSN, on Saturday, 21st March, 2015 held a very successful Fund Raising/ Award Luncheon at Hall of Honour, Suncity Hotels, Awka.
The event was held to reward excellence as found in some distinguished members and friends/lovers of the association as well as to raise fund for the building of a secretariat for the Anambra State Branch of AMLSN, in Awka, the state capital.
Speaking in his welcome address at the colourful event, the State Chairman of AMLSN, Anambra Branch, Comr. Obi A.A. stated that the event was the first of its kind in the annals of the association. He stated that the fund raising effort had become necessary as AMLSN Anambra branch currently has no office to call its own. He stated that the secretariat when built shall provide offices for the State Executive Officers(SEOs), serve as meeting venue for SEOs, Committee Meetings and State Assembly. There will also be a hall which can also be rented out to members of the public to help generate fund for the association.

Speaking on the theme of the event: “The Role of Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in the Management of Public Health Diseases,” the Guest Speaker at the event, Professor I.B. Enweani noted that continuous research was key to preventing and combating public health diseases.
Five individuals received ‘Award of Excellence’ at the event. They included: Professor Christopher Okwudili Anyamene- a Universityn Don and Pioneer Chairman of AMLSN, Anambra State Branch.He was also the Chairman of the Occasion His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo- a consummate Industrialist, entrepreneur and former governorship aspirant in Anambra State. Professor Mrs. Ekejindu Ifeoma Mercy- a University Don and distinguished Biomedical Scientist. Chief Ifeanyi Okeke-The Managing Director/CEO of New Divine Pharmaceuticals; makers of FAMZY pharmaceutical products. Dr. Sir Joe T.C. Onwuatuegwu- a consummate Biomedical Scientist and one of the elders of the profession in the state.
The awardees appreciated the association for the honour done to them and donated generously  towards the secretariat project.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the Association, Comr. Obi A.A. thanked everyone for their support and contributions and stated that donations continue even as the secretariat project is an on-going concern. He urged members of the association in particular to donate towards the project as it was their own project.
