This corrected version of the interns' entry point has already been implemented in most federal health establishments. The implementation is meant to also spread to State and Local government health institutions.
Recall that the office of the Head of Civil Service had earlier in a circular released in April 2013 placed intern MLS on a new entry point of CONHESS 8 step 1 which was a step below the entry point of their sister health professionals.
Following justified agitations from different quarters especially from MLSCN and AMLSN, the office of the head of civil service has deemed it proper to correct the anomaly; hence the new circular.
This is common sense because B.MLS is never inferior or disadvantaged compared to any other medical course studied in any university, anywhere in the world; if any thing, superior and having every advantage.
This gesture is expected to be extended to other scientists as they await the release of the Enhanced Entry Point (EEP) circular for post NYSC Medical Lab. Scientists who are presently suffering the condition formerly suffered by the interns of being placed steps below their counterparts or sister health professionals in the health sector.
The old scientists are praying that common sense would prevail as they do not want to embark on strike again before their EEP would be implemented.
